#ShopBromyard

The pretty little town of Bromyard, lying in the east close to the Worcestershire border, has a rich history and a High Street that’s almost entirely independent.

Here, amongst the Tudor timber-framed buildings and Georgian shop fronts, you’ll find cosy cafes, award-winning bakers and butchers, traditional ironmongers, greengrocers and more. Start your day at Legges deli and butchers where you can fill your basket with some of the best Herefordshire-made produce from Chase Gin to Myrtle’s chutneys as well as Legges’ own award-winning pies and pastries. From here, take a stroll along Church Walk to the historic medieval parish church of St Peter or discover more about the hilltop town’s history with a quick stop at the Heritage Centre in Rowberry Street where you’ll find local maps, books and postcards.

Old soon meets new at The French Nest boutique, an official Frenchic Stockist where you can sign up for furniture painting workshops while browsing vintage and handmade treats from Helen Cooper Designs. Couple that with a trip to The Vintage Stable and you’re more than halfway to perfecting your on-trend indoor style thanks to their amazing range of big, beautiful house plants plus trinkets and artisan décor.

Refuel at Oaklands Cafe-Deli or Brew before popping into Pettifer’s, an Aladdin’s cave of an ironmongers where you’re sure to discover something handy, or pay a visit to The Chapel, a gorgeous art gallery that defies any white cube expectations to host exhibitions within the walls of a Congregational Chapel dating back to 1701.

Of course, a visit to Bromyard isn’t complete without a slight detour to discover the surrounding gems – and you’ve got so many to choose from: fall in love with fine cider at the Little Pomona bottle shop in nearby Avenbury; lace up your walking boots for a bracing winter walk on Bromyard Downs; take a drive to Instone Court where the contactless vending machine is overflowing 24/7 with soft fruits, jams, jellies and local veg; or stop at Moors Meadow Gardens, an inspirational seven-acre organic hillside garden complete with a resident blacksmith!
